The 3rd meeting of e-PRODAT in Bologna

The project, aimed to build a web based observatory of best practices on e-Government and Data Protection and part-financed by the European Union through its INTERREG IIIC program, celebrated the third meeting of its steering committee in Bologna (Regione Emilia-Romagna, Italy) last 10th February.

At its Bologna meeting, the steering committee of e-PRODAT has approved the works developed since its second session celebrated last September, including the conclusions of the report on Data Protection and e-Government made by the University Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid, Spain) specifically focused on the need to improve the information provided online to data subjects when using e-government services.

The steering committee also approved the list of best practices identified so far, the activities planned for component #4 – “Building Communication Materials” -, which will include electronic and video deliverables together with others based on paper, and the activities planned for component #5 – “Communication of Results” -, including the organization of 5 events. Finally, all partners decided that the next steering committee will take place in Tallin (Estonia), on September 2006.

e-PRODAT is a European project, part-financed by the European Union through its INTERREG IIIC program, aimed at promoting the exchange of knowledge and experiences between Data Protection Authorities and other public bodies concerning the protection of personal data used by Governments and Public Administrations for the provision of public services, and specially those related to e-Government or based on the Internet, helping in particular to create best practices recommendations in this area. Its leader is the Data Protection Agency of the Community of Madrid.
